Why there's no installer
Old backgammon programs for Windows came as a download: an .exe, an installer, sometimes a toolbar you didn't ask for. Here the whole game runs in the browser you already have. That means:
- nothing to install, nothing to keep updated, nothing to uninstall later;
- no risk of picking up a dodgy "free backgammon download" from a random site;
- the same game on your PC, your laptop and your phone — with one account, the same rating and history.
Install it as a desktop app (optional)
If you prefer an icon on the desktop or the taskbar:
- Open nardeon.com in Chrome or Edge on Windows 10, Windows 11, macOS or Linux.
- Click the install icon at the right of the address bar, or open the browser menu and look for "Install" (in some versions it's under "Apps" or "Cast, save and share").
- Confirm. The game gets its own window and an icon you can pin to the taskbar or dock.
On a Mac in Safari you can use File → "Add to Dock". On a phone, see the backgammon app.
Big screen, proper board
On a monitor the board is drawn large and sharp, with three themes to choose from — Walnut, Classic and Night. You can switch on point numbers 1–24 on the frame, which helps when you're following a book or counting pips. In backgammon you can also put your home board on the left and move clockwise, if that's how you learned.
Play with mouse or keyboard
Drag a checker, or click it to move by the higher die with one-tap moves turned on. Or play without the mouse at all:

What you can play on PC

Both games are here: classic backgammon (short nardy) and long nardy. Matches go to 1, 3, 5 or 7 points.
Does it work on work or school computers?
Because nothing is installed, the game works on any computer where you're allowed to open websites. We don't try to get around network filters: if a network blocks game sites, that's the network owner's decision.

Is there a backgammon download for Windows 10 or 11?
There's nothing to download. Open the site in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari and play. In Chrome or Edge you can also choose "Install" to get a desktop icon and a separate window.
Does it work on a Mac?
Yes, in Safari, Chrome or any modern browser. It works on Linux and Chromebooks too.
Is this the full version or a trial?
The full version. Online play, friends, two players on one screen and all three computer levels are free, with no ads.
Can I play backgammon on PC with the keyboard?
Yes. Space rolls the dice or confirms the move, left and right arrows pick a checker, up and down choose where it goes, Enter moves it and Backspace undoes a step.
Can I play offline on my PC?
You need the internet to open the game. A game against the computer or on one screen then runs in your browser, so a slow connection doesn't get in the way.
